After an eventful last week as his contract with WWE expired and the company moved him to the Alumni section of their website, there appears to be a favorable ending in Santos Escobar’s status with WWE.
A report from pwinsiderelite.com notes that WWE and Escobar have agreed on terms for a new contract and he is now back with the promotion just days after his original deal expired. It would technically mean that Escobar was briefly a free agent and able to negotiate and sign with any other wrestling company.
The sticking point in negotiations was reportedly never about money but rather Escobar’s concerns with the creative direction of his character and the report above indicates that WWE management considered his opinions on the matter while also making him a “sizeably larger offer.” It is believed that the two sides only came to an agreement late yesterday. It’s unclear when he will be back on the road with WWE and as of this writing he remains in the Alumni section of WWE.com as well.
