WWE star Jacob Fatu was pulled from his scheduled match against Drew McIntyre on last week’s Friday Night Smackdown with conflicting reports surfacing about how long he would ultimately be sidelined.
The first report suggested that Fatu was dealing with a non-wrestling related injury that would keep him out of action for the rest of 2025 and into 2026 but a later report emerged that clarified that Fatu was recovering from a dental procedure and wasn’t immediately cleared for him action but that officials hoped he would be back before long.
F4Wonline.com’s Bryan Alvarez is leaning towards the latter report, noting that internally, WWE is expecting Fatu back around
Survivor Series.
WWE ran an injury angle on Smackdown, showing Fatu bloodied and stuck under some backstage equipment. He was attacked, bloodied in the mouth with what appeared to be teeth knocked out.
It wasn’t revealed who was behind the attack though his scheduled opponent McIntyre seemed happy with the injury but claimed he wasn’t involved. Cody Rhodes then came out and ended up wrestling McIntyre instead. The original Fatu vs. McIntyre match was supposed to crown a new #1 contender for Rhodes’ title.
