A wrestler who was very recently with WWE now appears to be drawing interest from AEW.
Earlier today, fightfulselect.com reported that Zayda Steel – a former WWE ID prospect – is being considered by AEW since her exit from WWE. Steel was under contract to WWE until only last month, signed to an ID contract.
However, after letting her contract lapse and deciding not to renew, Steel was apparently contacted by AEW at some point last month. The report notes that at that time, no contract was agreed upon and as of this past week, nothing was signed either.
WWE’s ID contracts stipulate that while talents can negotiate with other promotions, WWE would have first right to match any deals offered to the talent.
However as noted, Steel is no longer under any sort of WWE agreement so none of that would apply. WWE sources have corroborated Zayda’s claims that when it came time to renew her deal, she declined.
