According to a report from PWInsiderelite.com, WWE and McIntyre have not made significant progress in their contract negotiations recently. This lack of progress is attributed to WWE’s concentration on finalizing their merger with Endeavor. There doesn’t appear to be a sense of urgency in re-signing McIntyre as there is still plenty of time left on the deal. WWE extended his contract due to McIntyre taking time off earlier in 2023. With this additional time, WWE likely has McIntyre locked down until around WrestleMania, giving them approximately seven months to work on getting him re-signed.
