Following the Adam Cole vs. Pat McAfee match at the milestone NXT TakeOver: XXX event that kicked off WWE SummerSlam Weekend on Saturday, August 22, 2020, both athletes spoke about their respective efforts in the featured bout from the big WWE NXT special that streamed live via the WWE Network.
After picking up the victory over the debuting McAfee on Saturday night, The Undisputed Era’s Cole gave an exclusive post-match interview to the official WWE website backstage, adding insult to injury by publicly gloating and roasting McAfee.
“There’s so much wrong with people like Pat McAfee,” Cole said after gloating about his victory at the NXT TakeOver event on Saturday night. “With people who run their mouths, people who think they know more than they really do [and] more importantly, people who come into worlds that they don’t belong in.”
Cole continued, further boasting his win and the fact that he delivered on his pre-match promise to embarrass and humiliate McAfee, and let him know who the real king is.
“Now that I’ve finished with Pat, I can move on to more important things to me, more important things to The Undisputed Era and I’m going to smile while doing it …and that… that’s undisputed.”
In addition to the interview Cole gave WWE.com backstage on Saturday night, The Undisputed Era member also took to social media to reiterate similar sentiments in arrogant fashion regarding his win over McAfee at the milestone NXT TakeOver event.
“Pat you did good,” began Cole’s caption of a re-tweet of a WWE Twitter post that covered his NXT TakeOver match result with a photo of him pinning McAfee. “You brought your best, but your best will never be enough.”
Cole continued, “My world Pat. My world. #ByeByePat #ThanksForComing #AdamColeBayBay.”
For his part, McAfee has posted two tweets via his official @PatMcAfeeShow feed for his podcast, which has 1.8 million followers, in regards to his loss in hsi WWE in-ring debut against Cole at NXT TakeOver: XXX.
His first tweet was simply a GIF of WWE Hall of Fame legend Ron Simmons doing his “DAMN!” catchphrase with a caption that read, “#NXTTakeOver.”
The second included a video clip of a spot from the NXT TakeOver: XXX bout that featured McAfee showing off his athleticism with his crazy top-rope splash onto several wrestlers on the floor.
“Good morning beautiful people,” the caption to the tweet containing the aforementioned clip began. “I woke up a bit sore .. I couldn’t fully understand why then I hopped on the Twitter. Ooohhhhhh, that’s right #NXTTakeOver.”
