— Former NXT champion Adam Cole’s contract is apparently set to expire this month, according to reports from both wrestlinginc.com and fightfulselect.com. The initial report noted that Cole’s deal actually ran out after the Great American Bash event but that he extended it through SummerSlam and was willing to work through that weekend rather than simply walk out and/or appear for a rival promotion. The second report adds that the internal assumption was that Cole’s deal was running out in December but that sources have since revealed that it expired much sooner (early July) which came as a surprise to many officials as they only realized this shortly before that date and there was great frustration internally that it actually came down so close to the wire.
