The FTW Championship will be defended for the first time in AEW when “The Monster” Brian Cage puts the title on-the-line against Brian Pillman Jr. on this coming week’s episode of AEW DARK.
On Saturday, AEW announced via their official Twitter feed that Cage vs. Pillman Jr. will headline a six-match lineup on the Tuesday, July 14th edition of the weekly digital series, which is available every Tuesday on the company’s official YouTube channel.
As seen during night two of the two-week AEW FYTER FEST extravaganza, “The Human Suplex Machine” Taz debuted the FTW Championship that he created in the original Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) promotion.
He then crowned Cage as the first FTW Champion recognized by AEW, noting other promotions aren’t the only ones who will have champion versus champion main events, because “The Monster” will be the recognized FTW Champion — as long as he wins in his first title defense against PIllman Jr. on Tuesday — when he steps in the ring to meet AEW World Champion Jon Moxley at AEW Fight For The Fallen on Wednesday.
Leading up to the first-ever FTW Championship match in AEW history, the 7/14 episode of AEW DARK will also feature an interesting women’s tag-team bout when Brandi Rhodes & Allie team up to take on Rache Chanel & Dinamate.
Also on tap for in-ring action on AEW DARK on Tuesday will be Ricky Starks, Jurassic Express and even Pineapple Pete!
