Chuck Taylor makes his ROH debut at TV taping in Philly

AEW News & Rumors: Chuck Taylor’s In-Ring Career Likely Over Due To Injuries

It seems that Chuck Taylor’s wrestling career may have come to an unexpected end. According to the latest report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Orange Cassidy’s recent promo on Dynamite wasn’t just storyline – Taylor’s injuries are genuine, and there’s a strong belief internally that he won’t be able to wrestle again. His last match was on April 27 against Trent Beretta on Rampage, where he was already aware of the severity of his injuries and chose to compete anyway, possibly marking his final bout. AEW addressed the situation in storyline by having Beretta target Taylor’s ankle with a wrench. The Observer mentioned:

“From what we are told, what was said on television was accurate and the belief right now is that Taylor won’t be able to wrestle again. Excalibur on the show said that due to the nature of the fracture and the presence of necrosis of the bone (death of the bone) in fragments underneath the cartilage, the injury is likely career ending.”

While there have been cases of wrestlers defying such predictions and making miraculous recoveries, AEW seems to be preparing for Taylor’s retirement. Fightfulselect.com also noted that Taylor has been training as a coach/producer for several months, indicating a potential shift to a new role within the company.
