AEW News: Thunder Rosa Injury Update, Ortiz Working In Backstage Role, Mercedes Mone

AEW wrestler Ortiz, who hasn’t wrestled for the promotion in well over a year, recently indicated in an interview that he has about a year left on his AEW contract “give or take” but that he hopes to remain with the company. Ortiz noted that while he has been absent from AEW TV, he has been working backstage as both a producer and a coach.

Mercedes Mone has added another indie date to her schedule, getting booked for a House of Glory show on November 15 in Long Island, NY. Her opponent has not yet been publicized. Mone currently holds 12 different singles titles across AEW, ROH, CMLL and various independent promotions across the world. She is challenging AEW Women’s Champion Kris Statlander at Full Gear next month so could have 13 belts before the end of the year.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa hasn’t wrestled since July where she suffered an undisclosed injury. In an interview at the Big Texas Comic Con, Rosa shed some light on her status, noting that she continues to rehab the injuries she suffered a couple of months ago without actually specifying what those ailments are. She shared that she hopes to return to action very soon. Rosa has battled a variety of injuries in recent years including dealing with an issue to her back as well as a concussion.
