AEW & Warner Bros Discovery Reportedly Nearing Historic New Media Rights Agreement

— Despite rampant rumors over the past several weeks and perhaps months, AEW has yet to announce a new media rights deal for their TV shows Dynamite, Rampage and Collision, however, it appears that an announcement is just around the corner.

— Fightfulselect.com reports that multiple sources within AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have suggested that a deal is on the horizon pending some “red tape” to work through with a new offer made to AEW that WBD is confident that will appease Tony Khan and company. Khan met with WBD’s David Zaslav in Paris during the Olympics and discussions took place at that time; not only were they said to be productive but it is believed that a deal – perhaps in principle – was agreed after their meetings.

— WBD sources have labeled the offer as “extensive” without providing more clarity around that except that the ball is now in AEW’s court for final review. It is believed that compared to the original offer, the new proposal is at least double the value though it remains to be seen the context of the new agreement, such as if there is more content that will be produced. For example, AEW could produce more reality shows, specific crossovers with other shows, ROH packages, streaming PPVs and many other things that could significantly affect the monetary bottom line. One area that has elicited internal rumors is that of AEW possibly shifting their strategy around PPVs which would strongly imply integration with WBD’s streaming service, Max.
