As previously reported, top AEW star Will Ospreay has been sidelined due to a herniated disc injury in his neck. He recently underwent surgery to address the issue and has now been placed on the inactive roster for the remainder of 2025.
In the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers, Sean Ross Sapp discussed whether AEW plans to have Ospreay compete in the Owen Hart Cup once he recovers from his neck injury next year.
Sapp mentioned that while it is conceivable that the company might consider postponing the tournament to accommodate Ospreay’s return, he doesn’t believe this will happen. He also expressed some skepticism about the timeline for Ospreay’s return to the ring, suggesting that AEW is unlikely to adjust its schedule to align with Ospreay’s availability.
Moreover, Sapp cautioned against booking Ospreay in a tournament immediately after his return from a neck injury, noting that he hasn’t heard of any specific plans for Ospreay in the 2026 Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament.
