WWE Hall Of Famer Edge Returns As No. 21 Entrant In 2020 WWE Royal Rumble Match (Video)

Backstage AEW Reaction To Adam Copeland’s Leg Injury Is “Sadness and Sympathy”

— Reigning AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland announced this morning via his social media that he suffered a broken tibia during the match at Double or Nothing. He will require surgery to remedy the injury. The timetable for his return hasn’t yet been established but AEW will be addressing the creative issue regarding the title and the most likely scenario is that Copeland will vacate the belt.

— PWInsiderelite.com is reporting that the overwhelming backstage reaction among AEW talent and staff is of “universal sadness and sympathy” as Copeland had assumed a role of being a great mentor and support person for talent, acting as sounding board when necessary. Those that commented on the situation felt that it would leave a major void backstage and behind-the-scenes as he is unlikely to be around while recovering from the injury.

— On a related note, during Double or Nothing, AEW and Copeland often referred to “The Brood” by name, a term for the stable of Edge, Christian and Gangrel going back to their WWE days. As it turns out, that trademark is not owned by WWE but rather Copeland himself owns the rights to it and thus is free to use anywhere.
