— WWE’s women’s division has seen some changes take shape over the last few weeks and according to a report from fightfulselect.com, this has led to significant pivots when it comes to the title programs into Royal Rumble and beyond.
— The report notes that the Ronda Rousey vs. Raquel Rodriguez title match that took place last month on Smackdown was actually initially penciled in for the Royal Rumble, however, it was moved up to take place on Smackdown (and coupled with Charlotte Flair’s return) as a way to “add more to the show.”
— At the point where this was planned (early December), Charlotte was pitched to be in a match against Bianca Belair for the Raw women’s title while Rhea Ripley was planned to feud against Rousey when she was still the champion. Rousey was proposed several creative options for storylines but none of them worked and ultimately WWE decided to move up the match against Rodriguez while simultaneously have her drop the title to Flair.
