Backstage News on How Some AEW Wrestlers Appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw

— Last night on WWE Monday Night Raw, John Cena made a return to TV to celebrate his 20-year anniversary with the company. Interestingly, current AEW stars Chris Jericho, Bryan Danielson and Paul Wight all made pre-taped appearances congratulating Cena on the achievement though AEW was never mentioned by name.

— Fightfulselect.com reports that the process to get these AEW stars on WWE TV was straightforward. An idea was pitched to have some of Cena’s memorable opponents from AEW on TV and it was then passed onto AEW President Tony Khan, who was contacted to see if he would be okay with his contracted talent appearing on WWE’s show. Considering the circumstances surrounding the video, Khan gave the green-light for it t happen and his approval was the last and only hurdle required to make it happen. A WWE source later noted that WWE was able to land virtually everyone they had hoped to appear on camera for the congratulatory video clips.
