Andrade

Backstage News On Andrade’s Non-Compete Clause; Rumors Of WWE Wanting Him To Return

As previously reported, Andrade was released by WWE earlier this year, which led to his surprise return to AEW earlier this month during the sixth anniversary episode of Dynamite. However, AEW was later forced to pull Andrade from television after receiving a cease-and-desist order from WWE. It was also reported that Andrade is currently under a one-year non-compete period with WWE after being fired for cause due to failing multiple wellness policy drug tests.

PWInsider.com later relayed that there is a belief in lucha libre circles that WWE might be using the one-year non-compete clause as leverage against Andrade to persuade him to return to the company. However, there has been no confirmation of this rumor from within WWE, and it appears that the speculation is primarily circulating in Mexico. Additionally, it has been noted that Andrade is receiving considerable sympathy within the industry, as the non-compete clause with WWE is preventing him from working and making a living.

According to Sean Ross Sapp in the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers, WWE had no plans to use Andrade again when he was fired in September. Despite rumors about the company attempting to leverage the non-compete to encourage Andrade’s return, sources within WWE have stated that there are currently no plans to use him.
