Backstage News on Changes to Monday’s WWE Raw

— While not physically present at last night’s WWE Raw, Vince McMahon had a significant presence on the show changing matches and segments remotely. Fightfulselect.com and pwinsideelite.com both report that several matches had time cut from them while there were winners and losers that were also changed as well as “set ups” that got the match to the finish that were modified.

— Piper Niven vs. Candice LeRae was a match that was originally scheduled that was completely cut from the show as was a backstage segment with those two and Trish Stratus that was pulled. Despite still being planned as late as 7 PM ET, the women’s match was replaced by Street Profits vs. Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin. Also affected was the Mustafa Ali vs. Chad Gable match that was already scheduled for a short period of time but was then had further minutes slashed from it.

— One of the trends that has emerged over the last month is segments and matches featuring the women’s division being cut and the report notes that several women have been vocal about this. Last night, there was a backstage segment involving official Adam Pearce and some female talent including Sonya Deville that was completely removed. Tamina and Zelina Vega were two women were backstage at Raw but not used so it’s possible they would have been involved in at least one segment that ended up being cut. All of the other matches on Raw were the originally scheduled matches.
