Typically, when WWE designates a talent as a free agent, it means they are not tied to a specific brand like RAW or SmackDown. However, last December, WWE announced that Paul had officially signed with RAW and would appear exclusively on that brand ahead of the Netflix move.
According to WrestleVotes, this change in Paul’s internal status occurred earlier this year due to his ongoing feud with John Cena on SmackDown. Paul last competed for WWE at Clash in Paris on August 31, where he lost to Cena in a singles match. With WWE now designating Paul as a free agent, the creative team has the flexibility to integrate him into storylines on either RAW or SmackDown as needed.
Paul is reportedly signed to a multi-year contract with WWE and has wrestled a total of nine matches this year.
