The WWE-TNA partnership reportedly has not produced the effect on AEW that some had envisioned when the relationship began.
Although the crossover was initially viewed as a positive for TNA, particularly as the promotion worked toward securing a new television deal, the belief that WWE’s involvement could hurt AEW reportedly has not materialized.
WWE’s presence on TNA programming has also been reduced in recent weeks. With Bound For Glory drawing closer, WWE talent has largely disappeared from TNA shows, while the promotion has reportedly experienced a decline in ticket sales.
There is also said to be some concern about the long-term impact of the partnership on TNA. While the arrangement provided the company with increased attention, a number of TNA wrestlers were positioned below WWE talent during the crossover, potentially offsetting some of the benefits gained from the relationship.
Another reported goal involved TNA landing a Wednesday night television slot, which would have placed Impact head-to-head with AEW Dynamite. That scenario never came together.
There has been no indication that WWE and TNA have officially ended their working agreement. However, WWE’s involvement with TNA has become considerably less visible compared to earlier stages of the partnership.
The current circumstances have reportedly been characterized as a “bad situation,” with comparisons being made to problems that developed for other promotions following previous working relationships with WWE.
