Backstage News On WWE’s New Bleacher Report Content Deal And What It Could Mean For AEW

As previously reported, WWE has officially signed a content deal with Bleacher Report to showcase highlights of their programming on the popular website.

Sports Business Journal has confirmed that under this agreement, Bleacher Report will be able to feature highlights from WWE shows including RAW, SmackDown, NXT, and premium live events (PLEs) across its various social media platforms. Additionally, Bleacher Report will have a ringside presence at select WWE PLEs. This deal is expected to take effect prior to the Money in the Bank PLE on October 10.

Bleacher Report’s connection with TNT Sports and Warner Bros. Discovery has raised questions among AEW fans about what this means for the company’s future within the WBD umbrella. However, according to Fightful Select, a source within WBD has indicated that this deal with WWE will not impact an extension for AEW. The source emphasized that Bleacher Report has similar content agreements with other sports leagues, as well as a comparable arrangement with AEW. They believe this new deal will ultimately benefit AEW by increasing pro wrestling coverage on Bleacher Report’s platforms.

AEW’s current deal with WBD runs through 2027, with an option for 2028, and discussions regarding an extension are not anticipated to begin for some time. Meanwhile, WBD is working on a merger with Paramount Skydance, and Tony Khan remains optimistic about AEW’s role in this evolving landscape.
