On yesterday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, one of the topics discussed was the surprise return of Shane McMahon and it was noted that that decision was made on Wednesday, just a day before WWE’s conference call with investors to discuss their Q2 results.
Vince McMahon reportedly put together a meeting with the creative writing team that day because he knew he would be asked about falling ratings on the investor call and wanted to have a move ready to bolster ratings this week.
Only two things were decided upon (as everything else was undergoing constant changes leading up to the show) and that was Shane’s return to head up the “underground” segments and Ric Flair’s appearance.
