According to the hosts on Wrestling Observer Radio, one of the reasons that WWE did not go with Paul “HHH” Levesque as the head of Smackdown is because WWE didn’t want to thrust him into the position and have him fail to turn things around.
It is no secret that there aren’t many people that know the product or the wrestlers better than HHH. It is still assumed that eventually Vince will hand over the reigns to HHH but with all eyes on Smackdown with the move to FOX coming up, it was in a way to protect him long term.
