Road Dogg Moves From SmackDown Live Lead Writer To NXT Executive (5/27/2019)

Backstage News On Road Dogg Now Working Full-Time For NXT

Brian “Road Dogg” James is now working full-time for the NXT brand after previously stepping down as co-lead writer of WWE SmackDown Live.

James has been at the WWE Performance Center recently, but it is unclear what his official role/title is with NXT. He did make an appearance on the WWE Performance Center Combine special on the WWE Network over the weekend.

James apparently stepped down as arguably the top writer on SmackDown Live after growing frustrated with the way the show was being changed after he had already put in hours writing it. James was reportedly spending a significant amount of time working on the show only to see it all changed by Vince McMahon hours before Smackdown would air.

These frustrations ultimately led to a “breaking point” and James ended up removing himself from his old position.

He is said to be enjoying the change from SmackDown Live to NXT, and is more than content working with the future generation of WWE Superstars in their formative years with the black-and-gold brand.
