R-Truth Purposely Kept Out Of 50-Man Battle Royal At WWE Super ShowDown

Backstage News On WWE Keeping R-Truth Out Of WWE Super ShowDown 50-Man Battle Royal

Apparently R-Truth took an incredibly long flight for very little reason this weekend.

In addition to several of WWE’s female performers flying to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia only to find out that they would not be performing at the WWE Super ShowDown special like the company had hoped, Truth was only used for 20-seconds of work that resulted in a social media post.

As noted, Truth pinned a sleeping Jinder Mahal to regain the WWE 24/7 Championship while on the airplane flying from the United States to Saudi Arabia for Friday’s live special on the WWE Network.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, R-Truth was purposely excluded from what was billed as “the largest battle royal in WWE history,” as the focus and importance of winning the 50-Man Battle Royal would be lessened.

As a result, R-Truth worked only 20 seconds in a segment filmed for social media (Watch Video Here)

“That’s all he did and he didn’t even wrestle in the [50-man] Battle Royal because — to their credit — they realized having him in the Battle Royal would make absolutely no sense because everyone would have to pin him and it would just be [a mess],” said Meltzer.

The feeling was if Truth were in the match, everyone would be focused on pinning him, as opposed to eliminating the participants in the battle royal. With WWE advertising the match as “the largest battle royal in WWE history,” having the WWE 24/7 Title factor added to the mix would essentially devalue the importance of winning the match.
