On 1/8, WWE held Smackdown in Jacksonville just minutes away from where AEW held their rally. At first, fans who showed up to Smackdown with AEW t-shirts were turned away but WWE denied these reports, even though some fans had video footage of being denied entry. People who wore t-shirts of the Young Bucks and Bullet Club were allowed in.
As soon as the stories began hitting social media in "real time", WWE quickly moved to reverse their decision, allowing everyone in but keeping a close watch on fans who they felt were going to cause a disturbance or start AEW chants. The reason WWE rescinded their rule is because with social media and the reactions, they would have immediately been painted as the "bad guys" in this incident.
