Taz FTW Championship Update

So, how was "The Human Suplex Machine" able to dust-off and award the FTW Championship to "The Monster" at night two of AEW FYTER FEST without legal issues from the company that owns the intellectual property and copyrights associated with Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), the promotion where the championship was established.

As seen during night two of the AEW FYTER FEST special, Taz announced that he was bringing back the FTW championship belt and promptly awarded it to Brian Cage.

For those wondering how Taz could resurrect this title since he used it in ECW and WWE bought all of ECW's assets, Mike Johnson of reports that while the belt was in use with ECW, it was never actually owned by the promotion and thus, did not transfer over to WWE's ownership.

The belt was actually designed, created and owned by Taz, who also came up with the story line to introduce the non-sanctioned championship.

Taz also currently holds the copyright on the design and name of the belt and as a result, can use it however he wants in wrestling, including selling replicas or other merchandise related to it.
