The updates continue to surface regarding the WWE status of Lars Sullivan following his recent surprise return to the company in the WWE Draft 2020 two-night special held on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown earlier this month.
Sullivan had been out of action for a considerable length of time due to major knee surgery and the reason his return was initially delayed is because his knee got infected.
Apparently Sullivan has been ready for some time despite only returning in recent weeks, according to the latest issue of the weekly Wrestling Observer Newsletter publication at F4W Online.
According to the report, the reason WWE elected to keep him from returning was because they wanted him to remain off of television until the annual draft, figuring that would accomplish two goals with one move, as it would bring Sullivan back in a meaningful way under a big spotlight, and would also serve as one of the standout unexpected highlights of the two-night special.
Additionally, the report notes that Braun Strowman was drafted to a different brand than Sullivan as the idea is to keep the two away from each other for at least a year, with each portraying a similar character with somewhat of a similar look, and the assumption being it would build anticipation for an eventual showdown between the two big monsters at a high-profile WWE event in need of a featured attraction type of match.
We will keep you posted here at eWrestling.com as updates continue to filter in regarding WWE plans for Lars Sullivan now that he is back as an active member of the talent roster.
