It was previously reported by Mark O’Brien of WrestleMobs and Bodyslam.net that AEW star Britt Baker is actively trying to leave the company, and this has been a rumor for quite some time. According to reports from last January, there were individuals within AEW who did not like Baker, which is believed to be why Tony Khan has not been booking her.
However, Fightful Select reports that every source they have consulted has denied any claims that Baker is attempting to exit the company. Those familiar with Baker’s current situation have stated that they have not heard any indications that she wants to leave AEW or has communicated such desires to the company.
Furthermore, the report notes that regarding a quote Baker shared on social media, she often shares and comments on posts from that page. Sources within AEW said they haven’t heard any desire from Baker to leave, particularly when they see her at events on the convention circuit. Currently, she is not booked for Starrcast during the All In: Texas weekend, and there’s no information on whether she expects to be in the city for All In. Baker still has over a year remaining on her contract, having signed a five-year deal with AEW in 2021. The publication notes that if AEW extended her contract due to injury, she could potentially be under contract until halfway through 2027.
Baker was scheduled to compete in a match against Serena Deeb late last year, but that match never took place. AEW sources indicated that Baker has been open to returning to TV, but there have been delays in the talks to bring her back. It remains unclear what is causing those hold-ups, but there had been internal discussions about bringing her back for a match at Double or Nothing, though it’s uncertain if Baker herself was involved in those discussions or if she was aware of them.
