Backstage Update On Rhea Ripley’s Recovery From Injury & Expected Return To WWE

— Former World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury, which actually caused her to vacate her title shortly after WrestleMania 40. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was an update on her progress and a bit of a timeline on her return.

— According to this report, Ripley has decided to rehab her injury instead of undergoing surgery. Despite the more modest treatment plan, Rhea is currently not expected to be physically cleared to wrestle by SummerSlam nor is she expected to be at the show, however, it was cautioned that if Ripley’s recovery goes better than expected or if the existing storyline with Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan calls for it, she could be brought in for an appearance. There’s also the possibility that if rehab isn’t able to fix her shoulder, surgery could still be a necessary option down the road.

— Ripley has been out of action since April after dropping her title and indicating that she would be sidelined for “quite a few months.” In her absence, Liv Morgan – who she was feuding with prior to the injury – has captured the Women’s World Championship and is involved in a storyline where she appears intent on winning over Dominik Mysterio. Dom inadvertently (or not) helped Morgan become champion and his assistance was rewarded with a kiss on the lips.
