The AEW Quake by the Lake 2022 special event saw the return of Chicago’s favorite son.

CM Punk returned during the conclusion of the main event between “The Lionheart” Chris Jericho and Interim AEW Champion Jon Moxley. He helped prevent Mox from a post-match attack and then took part in a face-to-face with the man he will eventually square off against to unify the two world championships in AEW.

PWInsider.com is reporting that Punk’s injury is still as bad as previously reported despite his return, noting he only stopped using his walking boot very recently.

It is believed that “The Best in the World” is still rehabbing his injury and was still dealing with significant pain as recently as a few weeks ago.

Punk is not expected to wrestle until the AEW ALL OUT 2022 pay-per-view in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois in early September.
