Matt Riddle’s name was changed to simply “Riddle” with the decision coming down on 10/29.
Fightfulselect.com reports that Vince McMahon was very happy with Riddle’s match against Sheamus on Raw and decided to change his name to present him as a more serious competitor.
Meanwhile, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has another theory.
According to them, the word going around is that WWE changed the name because they didn’t want people to Google “Matt Riddle” and then bring up details of the lawsuit against him and WWE.
