Brock Lesnar’s next match is scheduled for Royal Rumble on 1/25 and it is very likely a singles match with the WWE Championship on the line. WWE hasn’t put a champion in the Rumble in years and it also makes little sense from a story line perspective if the winner of the Rumble gets a title shot at WrestleMania.
Rumors of a match against Cain Velasquez have been mentioned but Velasquez is currently booked to be in the 30-man Rumble match.
Possible candidates on the current roster include Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre and Erick Rowan, notes the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Vince McMahon is said to be firmly behind a Rowan push, while McIntyre had been hand-picked for a top spot since he was brought back but his momentum has been interrupted with injuries and story line bumps.
Rollins continues to be pushed on Raw as its top star and already has two wins against Lesnar, so he might be the most likely out of the three.
