WWE SummerSlam 2019 Backstage News Updates (7/28/2019)

Backstage Update On Undertaker/SummerSlam, Other Matches Expected For 8/11 PPV

It looks like fans who purchased tickets to the WWE SummerSlam 2019 pay-per-view at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada expecting to see WWE’s legendary “Phenom,” as they were informed they would be in local advertisements that ran in the market for several weeks/months, are going to be let down.

The latest on The Undertaker is that he’s still not scheduled for a WWE SummerSlam 2019 match, even though WWE ran local advertising in Toronto suggesting that he would be facing Drew McIntyre.

As far as the advertising is concerned, it is worth noting that it almost always means nothing, as WWE has made a habit in the past of not always delivering on what they are promoting, something that used to be an enormous issue in the past.

Remember Steve Austin “taking his ball and going home,” resulting in WWE firing him and burying him on television for several weeks?

Yeah, that was Vince’s reaction to “The Texas Rattlesnake” not showing up to RAW as advertised, as he explained during his semi-shoot promo on WWE TV addressing the incident the night it happened.

Anyways, yeah.

Don’t expect “The Dead Man” — in an actual match — at WWE’s “biggest spectacular of the summer.”

Speaking of next month’s WWE SummerSlam 2019 PPV, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, other rumored matches for WWE SummerSlam 2019 have come to light.

WWE Women’s Tag-Team Champions The Ilconics (Peyton Royce and Billie Kay) are expected to be facing The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Io Shirai) in a title defense, or in a three-way tag-team match for the titles that would also include the duo of Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

Meltzer also listed The Revival vs. The Usos, The New Day vs. Elias & Samoa Joe, A.J. Styles vs. Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Ali.

WWE SummerSlam 2019 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 11th from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The show will air live on traditional pay-per-view, and will also stream live via the WWE Network.
