Backstage WWE News On CM Punk Going To Saudi Arabia After Earlier Having Issues With It

WWE has announced that CM Punk will challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions, taking place later this month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE had been planning for Punk to travel to Saudi Arabia for some time. It seems that Punk has had no objections to going to the country for the upcoming premium live event in recent months. Previously, Punk and The Miz had a confrontation after Punk made his WWE TV return on WWE Backstage, where he stated his intention to change the culture.

This is what Dave Meltzer said, “He was going months ago. I had already asked about that when, a couple of months ago, when the show was first talked about, and he was in the original promo package, and then he was taken out of the promo package. I asked, ‘Am I supposed to see when Seth Rollins replaced him in that promo package that he’s not going?’ And it’s like ‘Nope, he’s going.’ So it’s been known that he’s going for months, and probably all along.”

WWE Night of Champions 2025 will take place on Saturday, June 28, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event will be broadcast live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
