Former WWE Monday Night RAW announcer Samantha Irvin shocked the pro wrestling world with her departure from the company in October 2024. Shortly after, she opened up about her decision, expressing her desire to pursue more than just ring announcing. It has recently come to light that Irvin is currently bound by a two-year non-compete clause with WWE.
In the latest edition of Fightful Select Answers, Sean Ross Sapp addressed a fan’s question regarding Irvin’s ongoing non-compete. According to Sapp, the length of her non-compete clause is due to her decision to leave WWE while still under contract.
Sapp revealed that after Irvin expressed her desire to take on more than just a ring announcer role, WWE offered her a new lucrative deal in early 2024. However, this deal came with a lengthy non-compete clause attached. Following the new agreement, the company increased her ring announcing responsibilities and began capturing her reactions on camera during matches.
Sapp also mentioned that there is much more to Irvin’s sudden departure from WWE last October than has been disclosed, though no further details were provided at this time.
