Becky Lynch Talks To The Gorilla Position

Becky Lynch Has Definite Opinion On Whether Or Not WWE Should Unify Women’s Titles

As part of her media blitz coming out of WrestleMania 35 as the new RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion and winner in the historic first-ever women’s main event at a WrestleMania pay-per-view, Becky Lynch spoke with virtually everyone from mainstream media to pro wrestling media and a bit of everything in between.

During a discussion with the gang from The Gorilla Position podcast prior to this past Tuesday night’s post-WrestleMania 35 episode of WWE SmackDown Live, “The Man” took some time out to have a chat about a number of current pro wrestling topics.

In addition to talking specifically about her own personal and professional rivalry with former RAW Women’s Champion and UFC Hall Of Famer “Rowdy” Ronda Rousy, which our own Ram Jam posted here at Rajah.com earlier this week, “The Lass Kicker” also spoke about subjects such as her thoughts on whether or not it is her goal to unify the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships into one title.

“Nope, absolutely not,” Lynch said. “Nope, I want to defend both of them and I don’t see a point for them to be unified because we have two different brands, we have RAW and SmackDown.”

Lynch then pondered the possibility for a moment before ultimately concluding with her initial gut feeling.

“If we go back to one brand, maybe,” Lynch started. “But maybe not. Nah. No! I’m ‘Becky Two Belts!’ I need two belts and also I just like there being more things for people to fight for.”

She also touched on Monday and Tuesday night’s 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up and the possible ramifications, if any, it could have on her. Additionally, she was asked if she has a preference in terms of ending up on the RAW or SmackDown Live brand when all is said-and-done.

“I’m so proud of SmackDown, I love SmackDown, but I’m going to be on both,” Lynch said. “I’m not relinquishing one of the titles. I love SmackDown, this is my home.”

She added, “I feel very proud of this brand, I want to make this the show to watch and the the division to watch. I feel like I have done my part there.”

Finally, the reigning WWE Champ-Champ touched on a new adversary that has come across her radar on a few occasions, with the intensity finally picking up on Monday when things got physical between the two on the post-WrestleMania 35 episode of WWE RAW.

“I haven’t really seen Lacey Evans do anything,” Lynch said of her potential new foe. “I’ve seen her walk down a ramp a few times. She hasn’t slipped — fair play to her — but that’s all she’s done in this company. She hasn’t achieved anything.”

Lynch continued, “Has she main-evented WrestleMania? Does she have two championships? Has she ever had a championship? Who has she ever beaten? I’ve beaten the toughest opponents in this industry. Lacey Evans can’t say nothing. Yes, she hit me with the first punch [on RAW]. I’ll hit her with the last.”
