Billy Gunn Defends AEW CEO Tony Khan; Jim Ross Compares Him To Vince McMahon As “Alpha Male”

— AEW CEO Tony Khan has seen a lot of criticism come his way lately, whether it be due to declining AEW ratings and attendance figures or his social media activities or the way he gets triggered by his rivals. Two AEW folks have come to Khan’s defense over the last couple of days, Billy Gunn and Jim Ross.

— In response to “internet trolls” who have criticized Khan’s running of AEW, Gunn told Bill Apter of sportskeeda.com: “Well, that’s because they don’t work for him. Everybody has an opinion out there which means absolutely nothing! Until you’ve walked in my shoes, don’t tell me how to walk in them” while Ross had this to say on his Grilling JR podcast, comparing Khan to Vince McMahon and likening them both as “alpha male” type figures.

“I’ve been really enjoying ‘Collision’ here lately, that team who writes that are doing a real good job and I know it’s spearheaded by Tony Khan, there’s no doubt who’s the alpha male in that company and that’s a good thing. That’s how it was when I first went to WWE with Vince. He had his hand in everything, t-shirt designs, ticket prices, on sale dates, venues, everything, every single thing and because that’s what he wanted and he liked to be deeply involved.”
