WWE Senior Vice President Bruce Prichard recently took to his “Something To Wrestle With” podcast and talked about a variety of topics such as how the company was in serious talks of having boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya appear on WWE television, but it just didn’t work out.
Bruce Prichard said:
“God, you know, I can go back to the late 90s, mid to late 90s, Oscar (De La Hoya) was another one that we’d pitch all the time. Friend of the company (WWE), friend of the business and great businessman, great guy, holy sh*t and it just never really worked out.”
Bruce Prichard also talked about how Oscar De La Hoya didn’t have the same passion for wrestling like he did for boxing and that is why he didn’t make that transition into the wrestling business.
Bruce Prichard said:
“I don’t think Oscar really had the same passion to make that jump into the wrestling business. I think that he was like, hey man, I know my comfort area, I know my comfort zone.”
