— WWE NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez appeared on the Pro Wrestling Illustrated show yesterday and once again stated that she has dreams and hopes of facing her idol, AJ Lee, in a match some day. Perez grew up as a huge AJ Lee citing her as an inspiration for being a “short Latina petite girls on screen” and the two since forged a relationship outside of the ring. When asked about that match and whether she’s been trying to get the assistance of Lee’s husband, CM Punk, to make that happen:

“Definitely, yeah. I try. But he tells me that he’s doing the same thing. He’s trying to get her to, like, come back, pulling her in. But I hope one day she decides to come back and have a match with me.”

— AJ Lee left WWE in 2015 after suffering neck injury but since also shared that the departure of her husband Punk from WWE the previous year, played a part in her decision to leave. Since then, she has more or less stayed out of the wrestling spotlight, except a brief involvement with the Women of Wrestling promotion as an executive producer and commentator.
