The details continue to surface regarding exactly how CM Punk’s surprise return on this week’s episode of WWE Backstage On FS1 came about.

CM Punk’s return to WWE Backstage On FS1 was kept a secret from everyone on tonight’s telecast except for Renee Young as a way to prevent any leaks from making it online.

Punk’s deal is strictly with FOX Sports (rather than with WWE) though WWE did obviously give their approval for his signing.

The two sides had been working on the deal but only came to an official agreement within the last few days.
