The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) has announced “Hard Times” as the name of their next pay-per-view on January 24th, prompting Cody Rhodes, the son of the man who coined the phrase — “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes — to share his two cents on the choice for the PPV name.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) Executive Vice President (EVP) and active wrestler Cody Rhodes was asked by a fan on Twitter about the NWA naming their 1/24 PPV after his father’s famous “Hard Times” promo from the original NWA days back in 1985.
“The American Nightmare” responded with optimism, stating that he’s happy to see Dusty’s continued influence on the sport.
“His legacy is really hard to contain and that’s a good thing,” Cody responded before concluding, “Always nice to see his influence on the sport.”
