Controversial Chyna Episode Scrapped From Season 3 Of Dark Side Of The Ring, Vice Executive Comments

Don’t expect to see an episode on Joanie “Chyna” Laurer on the next season of the popular Vice documentary series, “Dark Side of the Ring.”

As noted, the third season of the original documentary series covering controversial topics from the world of professional wrestling returns soon on Vice, and despite original plans for an episode on the former WWE Intercontinental Champion and late pro wrestling legend Joanie “Chyna” Laurer, that particular show has apparently been scrapped.

Anthony Anzaldo, the former manager of the late wrestling star, told Wrestling Inc. that he was approached by Vice for an episode on Chyna.

“They are putting it on VICE. It’s a Dark Side of The Ring two-hour version,” said Anzaldo. “They want me so bad because they know the story isn’t told without me. I am not giving them the rights while they claim they still have the rights because I signed a release when I did my sit down.”

He went on to confirm that he did not sign a release to allow use of himself on the program, despite being offered $1,500 for an on-camera interview.

Subsequently, Evan Husney, the producer of the Dark Side of the Ring series, claimed there are no plans for an episode based on Joanie “Chyna” Laurer on the third season of the Vice program.

“There are no plans for an episode about Chyna for the upcoming season of Dark Side of the Ring,” said Husney. “At the start of pre-production earlier this year, we became aware of multiple projects that were currently in production about Chyna, and thus, we ultimately decided against pursuing this as a future subject.”
