Corey Graves Reportedly Viewed As Babyface In Issues With Mauro Ranallo During Survivor Series Weekend

Corey Graves Perceived As Baby Face In Mauro Ranallo Situation Behind-The-Scenes In WWE

While on the surface and out-of-context it may not seem correct, it appears that Corey Graves came out of the recent issue with Mauro Ranallo from Survivor Series Weekend as the perceived baby face in the whole situation behind-the-scenes in WWE.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ranallo had made it clear to WWE officials lately that “he was not doing well,” seemingly referring to his lifetime battle with bipolar disorder, prior to the NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019 live special on WWE Network during WWE Survivor Series 2019 Weekend.

It is, of course, entirely possible that Graves was not aware of this fact before he tweeted criticism aimed at the NXT announcer during the big WWE / NXT Weekend in the Chicago-area.

Graves’ reasoning that he was doing it start an angle has been met with some skepticism backstage as people have noted that if it was to lead to an angle, Graves wouldn’t have tweeted like that and also would have buried all three commentators, not just Ranallo.

Ranallo and Graves were scheduled to announce at least one match together at Survivor Series, but that never happened, and worse yet, Ranallo did not work the post-TakeOver: WarGames 2019 edition of NXT On USA either.

Meltzer’s report also noted that while logic would seem to suggest that WWE management would “reel in” Graves after Ranallo left, many people backstage felt that Graves was considered to be the “baby face” and possibly even the “victim” in the incident.
