Daniel Cormier & Triple H

Daniel Cormier Reveals Preliminary Talks With WWE, Explains Storyline Idea He Has For Debut

Now that he is officially retired from active MMA fighting, former two-division UFC Champion and current commentator for the promotion Daniel Cormier has apparently started preliminary talks with WWE about possibly joining the brand.

Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier told Sports Illustrated that he remains interested in a career in WWE and that the two sides have had “very very early conversations” and “spoken to some people over there” while noting that WWE is a company he’s watched and loved his entire life.

When asked about how he would like to begin a potential WWE career, Cormier had this to say:

“Put me at the commentary table. Let me call the matches for six months and tell you how great these wrestlers are in the ring. I would love that, and I wouldn’t be faking it. WWE is something I’ve loved my entire life. Then, after those six months, what if I’m sitting next to Michael Cole, and Roman comes over and smacks the microphone out of my hand? But I’m an announcer. Will I hit him back? Then you’re asking if this will happen or not. That’s what I want, that slow build, the type of story you want to see, and your heart feels like it’s going to explode while you’re waiting for it. Give me the slow build, let it simmer.”

Cormier added that he hasn’t really watched AEW and it’s unclear if they would have interest in him, but the interest from WWE is very real.
