Edge Writes About His First-Ever Match In WWE On 23rd Anniversary (5/10/2019)

Edge Looks Back 23-Years After Memorable WWE Debut Match In New Statement

Today marks the 23-year anniversary of the first match Adam “Edge” Copeland wrestled for WWE.

The WWE Hall Of Famer and host of the E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness podcast with longtime friend and former WWE tag-team partner Christian took to social media on Friday to post about the big WWE milestone.

“May 10 1996 is a day I’ll never forget,” wrote Edge via his official Instagram page. “I wrestled my first match for the WWF(E). In Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario. As Sexton Hardcastle. Yep, you read that right and I stand by the fact that it’s still the coolest/worst wrestling name ever.”

Edge continued, elaborating on some of the other details he remembers from what would become one of the defining moments of his young life and eventual Hall Of Fame-level WWE career.

“I wrestled Bob “Spark Plug” Holly,” he continued. “And yes I am doing a very caucasian version of a running man in the second picture, while referee Timmy White stares on incredulously. Somehow that was my brilliant idea to getting signed. A year later I signed with WWE, so apparently my running man worked. 12 years later I was in the main event of Wrestlemania vs Undertaker.”

He concluded, “So yeah, May 10th, you mean a lot to me.”
