The NXT women’s division continues to be one of the main talking points within the pro wrestling community coming out of the NXT TakeOver 31 special event over the weekend.
As noted, the NXT TakeOver 31 show on Sunday, October 4, 2020 featured a very eventful co-main event, which ultimately saw Io Shirai successfully defend her NXT Women’s Championship with a hard-earned victory over Candice LeRae.
During the match, both Toni Storm and Ember Moon made their respective returns in front of the WWE and NXT Universe at the redesigned and rebranded “Capitol Wrestling Center” venue set up inside the WWE Performance Center training facility in Orlando, Florida.
In addition to the immediate post-show video interviews WWE released late Sunday night / early Monday morning that featured discussions with Ember Moon, Io Shirai and The Gargano’s (Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae) from backstage at the Capitol Wrestling Center conducted right after the aforementioned showdown between “The Genius of the Sky” and “The Poison Pixie” at NXT TakeOver 31, Moon and Shirai continued their back-and-forth exchange on social media.
For her part, Shirai released a statement reacting to her victory over LeRae and the madness that surrounded it, ultimately vowing to remain the top of the NXT women’s landscape for the foreseeable future.
This prompted Moon, who was revealed as the person behind the “mysterious warning” cryptic night-vision vignettes airing on WWE Friday Night SmackDown during the build-up to NXT TakeOver 31, to fire back with a couple of tweets directed at the reigning NXT Women’s Champion.
