Eric Bischoff has finally broken his silence regarding his new position in WWE as the Executive Director of the SmackDown Live brand.
The author of the best-selling autobiography “Controversy Creates Cash” and the former Executive Vice President of the now defunct World Championship Wrestling (WCW) promotion, took to social media early Saturday evening to comment on his new role behind-the-scenes in WWE.
“Equally humbled, honored, and more excited than I can possibly articulate here,” wrote Bischoff via his official Twitter page. “Thank you so much for the overwhelming support.”
Bischoff continued, “It’s been an amazing journey and the best is yet to come. WWE SmackDown Live!”
Additionally, Bischoff responded to a fan named Gary who spoke about how excited he was that the only pro wrestling promoter to ever defeat Vince McMahon and WWE in prime time on cable television ratings for 83 consecutive weeks is going to be back at the helm running a major promotion as the new behind-the-scenes leader of WWE’s blue brand.
“Thank you Gary,” Bischoff wrote in response. “I don’t know for sure who originated this phrase: ‘Never say never,’ but I am living it and it’s just flat-out amazing.”
The tweet concluded with a hash-tag that read, “#CantWaitToGetToWork.”
As noted, WWE sent out an e-mail blast this week to fans to announce that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will officially start this week as the new head of RAW and SmackDown Live. The advertisements read, “See what Paul Heyman has in store for WWE Monday Night Raw this Monday night, July 1st,” and “See what Eric Bischoff has in store for WWE SmackDown Live this Tuesday night, July 2nd!”
