Following WWE’s announcement of Bruce Prichard being named the Executive Director of SmackDown there were many questions regarding what this meant in terms of Eric Bischoff’s status with the company … until now.
In an update obtained exclusively by our own Rajah Kumar from our affiliate website, Rajah.com, regarding WWE issuing a press release to highlight that Bruce Prichard has replaced Eric Bischoff as Executive Director of SmackDown, he asked the company what this meant about the future of Bischoff, if he was re-assigned to a new role or is gone from WWE.
The statement he received back read as follows:
“(Eric) Bischoff is no longer with the company.”
A news story published by The Wrap also confirms that Bischoff is gone:
“Bruce Prichard has replaced Eric Bischoff as executive director of Fox professional wrestling series “Friday Night SmackDown,” WWE said on Tuesday. Former WCW boss Bischoff has been let go from WWE, a person with knowledge of his status tells TheWrap, after he served less than four months at the blue brand’s top post.”
