The first match for the second SmackDown of the New Year has been officially announced by WWE.
WWE announced that Lacey Evans would be taking on Sasha Banks next week on Friday Night Smackdown.
This stems from the incidents the last two weeks – the first where Banks taunted Evans’ daughter two weeks ago – and then last night when Evans and Dana Brooke won a women’s triple threat tag team match where Banks was pinned.
As of last week, the rumored direction for the Smackdown women’s title for Royal Rumble was Evans getting a title shot against Bayley so with three episodes of Smackdown left, that could still be announced.
