Former WWE Wrestler Sentenced To Five Years In Prison After Being Convicted Of Attempted Murder

Former WWE wrestler and UFC fighter Cain Velasquez has been handed his sentence from a February 2022 incident where he fired a handgun at a car in which one of the occupants was a man who was accused of molesting Velasquez’s son. Velasquez had pled no contest to felony attempted murder, assault, and multiple weapons-related charges last summer.

The former wrestler was slapped with a five year prison sentence but will receive credit for more than 3.5 years of time served plus additional time he served at home with an ankle monitor on. As such, his lawyers are of the opinion that Velasquez will be behind bars for another year or so. The prosecution was seeking 30 years to life in prison while the defense was asking for time served and probation. The man who Velasquez shot at was uninjured his stepfather was injured and both victims were reportedly very upset with the decision.

Velasquez had previously shown remorse suggesting that he should not have taken the law into his own hands and that he was wrong to handle the incident in the manner that he did.
