Bill Goldberg On WWE RAW Nov. 21

Goldberg Defends Survivor Series Finish, Talks Mindset Behind Extending WWE Deal

Bill Goldberg recently spoke with and addressed his thought process behind his decision to extend his deal with WWE, which as he revealed on Monday night’s post-Survivor Series edition of WWE RAW, includes participation in the upcoming 30-man over the top rope match at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view in January.

“It’s completely dependent if you are a smart businessman upon the return on your product,” Goldberg told ESPN. “I believe that you have to wait and see if that investment is going to pay off and I think each and every time I was given the opportunity, I hoped that I was able to carry the ball and give [WWE] the confidence to have me back and further include me in their plans.”

Regarding the creative behind the shocking finish to his match with Brock Lesnar at the aforementioned Survivor Series pay-per-view this past Sunday in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Goldberg felt WWE made the right move by going the route of “shock and awe” by having him blitz through “The Beast Incarnate” in under two minutes in his first match in over 12 years.

“I think at this time in my career, the best way to take [Lesnar] down was shock and awe, to do something that nobody would expect against a monster like that,” Goldberg said. “At the end of the day, you have smart marks all over the world thinking that they know the outcome of a match. I don’t believe any of them thought that was going to be it.”

Bill Goldberg will be featured in this year’s 30-man over the top rope match at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which takes place on Sunday, January 29th from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
